RACIAL DISCRIMINATION IN LATIN AMERICA.

According to CEPAL data, the Afro-descendant population in Latin America and the Caribbean reaches 30% of the total population. There are about 150 million Afro descendants. In the Caribbean, about 70% of the population is of African descent. Despite representing so much of the population of Latin America and the Caribbean, Afro-descendant populations suffer the most from discrimination and violation of their rights.

Many times those who discriminate do it because of skin color or biological differences (Racism and xenophobia), gender (sexism, machismo), origin or nationality, religious beliefs, social condition, sexual orientation (Homophobia ), Disability or illness, age, political affiliation. There is also positive Discrimination, it means. Is the social policy aimed at improving the quality of life of disadvantaged groups, providing them with the opportunity to obtain food and have civil rights.
